HOW DIFFERENT DIETS STACK UP. part 4 clean eating

Clean Eating

Clean eating is essentially eating more real food and less processed food. The major pro of clean eating is that you end up eating more veggies and whole foods. The major con is that you end up cooking less gourmet food and it can end up being a less enjoyable and therefore less sustainable method. Check out these expert interviews below to get more info on clean eating!

Nick Call: Bodybuilder & nutrition coach

Name and what do you do?

Nick Call, 43 years old – Release Manager, ebay [Also a bodybuilder and part of a nutrition coaching team]

How long have you been (doing/ following) diet?

3 years on my own, then the last 20 I handed over my planning to a pro nutritionist

Why did you choose this diet style or way of eating?

I wanted to move away from processed foods and “chemical disasters” towards a healthier lifestyle designed to support health, strength and help me get to my desired physique.

How has it helped your short term and long term success?

Over the last 3 years it has prepared me for this final push. Over the last 6 months it has helped me drop below 10% body fat while maintaining my muscle mass. I no longer crave sugar or cheat meals because my system simply won’t handle it any more.  Garbage foods make me sick.

What are some common misconceptions about the way you eat?

Frequently people get tense when they sit down to eat with me and I have my prepped and measured clean meal and they have a plate of whatever in front of them. They get tense because they think I am going to preach to them or judge them. The truth of it almost always is that they see what I am doing and they know there’s a better way to treat their body and it is just guilt that’s causing their tension. They think it’s hard to eat clean, which is true, but it’s worth it, and they think I never get full and that must taste bland and nasty, neither of which are true.

What is your favorite meal?

My 10 grain hot breakfast cereal (like oatmeal) with coconut oil, cinnamon, and fresh mixed berries in it.

Advice for anyone who wants to get into this diet or lifestyle?

Just start. Start small if you have to, but just start! Then step it up as you adjust. Switching over in one big-bang event doesn’t always work for every person or for every lifestyle. Start small, and be sure to pat yourself on the back for every bad thing you drop out of your diet as you adjust. You can do it, no matter what your lifestyle and condition is, you can do it.

Where can you be contacted?

If you want to find me, I will be at the gym. Hahah. But seriously, nick.call@gmail.com
